Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a form of repetitive strain injury. It is caused, by working conditions which require you to make awkward or repetitive movements. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when these awkward and repetitive movements cause your hands and wrists to strain resulting in severe pain and numbness. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by many workplace tasks and is more commonly caused by:

  • Awkward posture
  • Awkward grip
  • No variation in tasks
  • Vibration from tools or equipment
  • Overwork
  • Lack of training
  • Inadequate work breaks

Worried about making a claim against your Employer?

Some occupations are more prone to carpel tunnel syndrome than others. These occupations tend to be those which require an element of manual work such as manufacturing, machine operating, cooking or cleaning, however a high percentage of repetitive strain injuries are found in clerical and office based workers.

If you’ve suffered from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome you can make a claim for compensation. You shouldn’t worry about taking action against your place of work, they will be covered by insurance for claims such as these and making a claim could prevent other people from suffering from such injuries in the future.
