Adam Bennett, a specialist armed forces solicitor from personal injury firm Russell Worth solicitors is gearing up to take part in the gruelling Tough Mudder event next month, raising money for armed forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
The charity, which was set up in August 2010 by army widow Nikki Scott, is committed to supporting the children of men and women killed whilst serving in the British Armed Forces. It provides children aged 0-18 years with treats, trips and activities that will offer respite from the daily ups and downs of coping without a loved one.
Tough Mudder is a hugely-popular event held worldwide, consisting of a gruelling 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by the Special Forces. The course tests an individual’s all round strength, stamina, determination and camaraderie, with participants facing all means of challenges – from negotiating obstacles with electric shocks to wading through ice baths!
Debbie Dack from Scotty’s Little Soldiers said: “Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and woman killed whilst serving in the British Armed forces.
“We support the children by sending them birthday and Christmas presents and gift vouchers at particularly tough times of the year and tickets for days out as well as enabling them to use the Scotty lodges when they need a break.”
“Knowing that there are people like Adam who are willing to help the children our fallen heroes leave behind, means such a great deal to all of us and goes towards helping make Scotty’s Little Soldiers a huge success.”
Adam said of the challenge: “I have never done anything like this before and am really looking forward to October’s event. Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a fantastic charity who give much-needed support to the families of the fallen. I hope to raise lots of money for this extremely worthy cause.”
