A hotel in Skegness has been fined after it exposed staff to asbestos.

The County Hotel, owned by UK Holiday Group Ltd, pleaded guilty to three separate breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and was consequently prosecuted by East Lindsey District Council.

It is thought at least two members of staff at the hotel were exposed to the asbestos.

A spokesman for the council said that they were alerted to the asbestos by a hotel worker.

The hotel was charged £44,512 in fines and costs for exposing staff. It has since carried out extensive work on the property to remove large quantities of asbestos lagging from pipe work and boiler tanks in its basement.
