Hospital staff receive compensation for work injuries

Hospital workers at Wigan Infirmary have received nearly £200,000 in compensation for injuries sustained at work during the past two years, it has been revealed.

According to figures published in The Wigan Evening Post just over £187,000 in total compensation has been paid out to employees of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

The most popular cause of accidents resulting in compensation was slip, trips and falls. Other accidents were caused by falling objects and faulty equipment. The largest single settlement was a payment of £55,327 for a back injury.
